 Blogorail Green Banner

Welcome to those of you joining me from Your Highway in the Sky and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Today is my first post as a member of the Magical Blogorail Green Loop. For those of you who are regular followers of Disney Living and may not happen to be familiar with the Magical Blogorail, it is a collection of wonderful Disney bloggers who come together on a regular basis to share their thoughts on various Disney topics. I hope you’ll check out the other posts in this week’s Green Loop as well as all of the other Magical Blogorail Loops which you can find here!

The theme for the Green Loop this week is “Disney Memories with a Loved One“. Of course I immediately thought of my three kiddos…the DisKids as they’re referred to here. And it’s funny that my favorite memories for each one at Disney involves a specific character interaction.

DisKid #1 ~ We were waiting for the rope drop at Mickey’s Toon Town (which was recently closed for the new Fantasyland expansion) at Magic Kingdom. DisKid #1 was at the front of the crowd so when the characters came out, she was right there waiting. The cast members removed the rope, and Minnie came right up to my daughter, grabbed her hand, and proceeded to skip down the street with her. It was one of those magical “commercial” moments. She was the first for pics and autographs and the first to go through Minnie’s house that morning.

Skipping with Minnie

Welcome to Minnie's house

DisKid #2 ~ When my youngest daughter was 16 months old, we were enjoying the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine character meal at Hollywood & Vine at MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios). When it came time to interact with the characters as they made their way around the dining room, it immediately became very clear that DisKid #2 was NOT a fan (as evidenced by puddles of tears and much clinging). Fast forward to her next character encounter in 2008. She was three years old, and I was nervous for her as we entered the room to meet the mouse himself. As we walked in, all of my family had their eyes on her, and she only had eyes for Mickey. She loved him…as it should be. Just look at that sweet baby looking up at him.

I see Mickey!

I love Mickey!

DisKid #3 ~ Last year, we were blessed with a baby boy. I knew very different character experiences would follow. Boys don’t pose with the princesses. Or do they? As we were walking out of Magic Kingdom on our last Disney day this past October, we happened to see Snow White tucked in a corner with no line and decided we’d stop for one last picture. This is what we got.

Snow White baby love

Snow White was wonderful and even peppered my little guy with kisses all over his face! Those 10 minutes were the proverbial icing on the Disney cake!
