Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Green. Enjoy the ride as we share the greatest Disney moments of 2012.
As we wrap up another year and get ready to start another, I think back about some of the best Disney moments I’ve had over the past 12 months. I actually got to experience two Disney trips this year…one with our Girl Scout troop and more recently, a short four-day trip with my family.
Two of my favorite Disney moments happened during the Girl Scout trip. The first was when we checked into the new Disney value resort Art of Animation. The opening of this resort in May of this year was a great Disney moment in and of itself, but actually stepping out of the lobby into the Finding Nemo wing of the hotel literally took my breath away. Any pictures you may see just can’t do it justice.
My next great Disney moment that trip was the experience of the Discovering the American Spirit Youth Education Series program that we were able to participate in. What a great time we all had that morning as we walked into the park before it was even open, got an up close and personal on-stage view at the Hall of Presidents, and were able to be first in line on Splash Mountain.
During our family vacation last week, I experienced two more great Disney moments. One was actually a result of our first visit to Universal Studios. We’ve been saying for several years now that we were going to take a couple of days off of Disney and visit Universal. Big mistake…HUGE! There was no magic whatsoever. In general, it was dirtier, customer service was poor, even the visitors to the park weren’t up to the quality of those at Disney at times cutting lines, being rude, and even leaving trash lying around. When we returned to our room at Saratoga, we felt the need to walk over to Downtown Disney to find the magic again. And we did!
The best Disney moment I had this year was when DisKid #2 lost a tooth on the last night of our visit. We called the front desk at Saratoga to see if the Tooth Fairy visits Disney World. Let me tell you…boy, does she ever! We were told that something would be put together for her, and we could pick it up in the front lobby. Now THAT’S Disney magic!

Wow! You’ve experienced some great Disney moments! The kids and I were amazed when we visited Art of Animation in September – we didn’t stay there but we visited for several hours, walking around the whole resort, taking TONS of pictures! And the tooth fairy! I never would have thought to ask about that. How wonderful!
Love the tooth fairy in Disney!
Those are awesome experiences! Good to know about Universal – we’ll make sure to do it first whenever we get there.. some day. And I love the tooth fairy story! I love Disney!
Wow!! I love Disney’s tooth fairy! What an absolutely awesome way to handle the situation.
Wow, that’s amazing that the Tooth Fairy visited! Pure. Magic.
The Disney Tooth Fairy. Like I really needed ANOTHER reason to love Disney World!! Great post!
Wow, that is cool about the Tooth Fairy! I did not know that. Seems like you had some great magical moments.
My daughter lost her very first tooth in WDW in 2007. I called and called to see if they did anything special. They didn’t so I ended up buying a necklace with her name on it and making a big deal about it. I made it look like Tinkerbelle takes over for Tooth Fairy when you lose a tooth in WDW. She loved it and still has that necklace and talks about how Tinkerbelle was her first tooth fairy. I am glad WDW took over. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t do anything for kids losing teeth in WDW.
It may just depend on the Cast Member you ask. The girls working in the lobby were more than happy to make this a magical moment for her. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything so I was pleasantly surprised.
