Welcome to the first stop aboard our Special Edition Mouse of Zen Loop. Enjoy the ride as we share with you our interpretations of JB Conway’s haikus with our special Disney memories and photos.

The Mouse of Zen haiku I’ve chosen immediately made me think of Chip’n Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-long.

On our most recent trip to Disney World, we had a chance to check out what is now one of my favorite non-park activities. Anyone can join in the activities free of charge (YES…FREE!) at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground. You don’t have to be staying at the campground to attend Chip’n Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-long which takes place nightly (weather permitting since it’s outdoors…under soup of shooting stars). Needless to say, Chip and Dale are in attendance as well as the singing cowboy who leads the audience in well-known camp-type songs. He even takes requests while Chip and Dale make their way throughout the crowd for pictures and autographs.

During our visit last October, Mr. Singing  Cowboy invited all the young buckaroos to come down front to sing and dance the Hokey Pokey. I had to drag DisKid #1 who was 12 and embarrassed. DisKid #2 on the other hand was all for the idea.

You put your head in…

And you shake it all about.

There is a concession stand available for hot chocolate, s’mores necessities, and other snacks. We actually found a s’mores kit and took it with us to the campfire…GREAT IDEA! It saved us a bit of money in the end. There are multiple fire pits and sticks are available for roasting marshmallows. (Don’t forget to get your marshmallow kisses!) After Chip and Dale made their rounds and Mr. Singing Cowboy stopped singing, a movie was shown on the large outdoor movie screen. Beauty and the Beast was playing during our visit. You can find the most up-to-date move schedule here.

You will need to make sure you give yourself plenty of time for transportation to the campfire, and arrive a bit early since the seating is first-come, first served. The campfire and movie are a great option for those nights when you have had a short day in the park such as one of the water parks or Animal Kingdom since those parks typically close earlier in the evening.

Enjoy your
